Top 10 Card Games You Should Check Out!

Card games are a great activity for people of all ages. They provide a high level of entertainment and are a perfect activity for family bonding or a game night with friends. With card games becoming increasingly popular, there are many different card games to choose from!  Here are ten of our favorite card games that put new and fun twists on the traditional card game!

  1. Magical Unicorn Quest:   

    Magical Unicorn Quest is the best card game on the market for 2-6 players. The goal is to journey through the Magical Forest and bring the Magical Unicorns to your stable.  First player to do so wins the game. The Magical Forest is filled with other mystical beings that may help or hinder your quest.  This game is great for players age 8 and up. There is the perfect mixture of skill and luck involved in the game, finding a unicorn is just one part! The artwork for this game is what makes it truly unique. Kip Noschese illustrated Magical Unicorn Quest and the highly detailed drawings are unlike any other card game on the market.

  2. Exploding Kittens:

    Exploding Kittens is the opposite of Magical Unicorn Quest. Instead of trying to find and obtain the Magical Unicorns your goal is to avoid the exploding kittens. If you draw an exploding kittens card you must defuse the kitten or you will explode into a thousand tiny pieces. Exploding Kittens is a Russian Roulette style card game. Once you defuse an exploding kitten, you put that exploding kitten back into the draw pile anywhere you choose. You get to decide who gets to draw the next exploding kitten or make it completely random.

    Coup is a card game where you are head of an Italian family, and the city is controlled by corrupt forces. Your goal is to manipulate, bluff and bribe your way to power, destroying the influence of the other families. In order to win the game, you must be the last player with family members in the game. Coup is a fun game and if you are on a budget it is a great offer, as you can find the game for under $15. 

  4. Citadels:

    Citadels is a unique card game that allows each player to take a role of a character in the citadel in order to gain special abilities. These special abilities will help players construct buildings in order to gain wealth. The goal is to create the most valuable citadel. The game ends when a player constructs their eighth building. Players then tally their points, and the player with the highest score wins. 

  5. Boss Monster:     

    If you have ever wanted to be the villain and take down a hero, Boss Monsters is the game for you.  Each player begins by adding traps and dangerous rooms to their dungeon. Heroes are then revealed and try to go through player's dungeon. If the hero gets through, you are wounded. If the Hero is unable to make it through your dungeon, you collect their soul. Collect the most souls to win or take to many wounds and lose.

  6. Trial By Trolley       

    This is an adult card game with tough situations. Players take turns being the trolley conductor, and must choose which passengers to murder and which passengers to spare.  People, animals, and mythical beings are on the trolley's tracks, and the trolley cannot stop in time.  As the conductor, you must decide whether to run them over, or pull the lever to go down the other track. Beware! There are also People, animals, and mythical beings are that track so choose wisely.

    This is a niche adult party game for people who want to create their own meme.  Find out who is the queen/king of memes by competing with friends to match photos with caption cards.  This game provides a unique twist to other similar party games, allowing everyone to create their own outrageously funny memes! 


  8. Fluxx:

    Fluxx is very unique card game, as the rules of the game and the ways to win the game are always changing. The game is simple yet complex. On each players turn they draw one card, play one card, and following the directions written on the chosen card. Can you win the game before someone changes the rules? 


  9. Unstable Unicorns:   

    Do you like Unicorns? If so, Unstable Unicorns is a good game for you. If not, there are better card games out there.  This game has good artwork and funny characters. However, the game needs additional revisions as some of the cards are extremely powerful and can make the game drag on. The power cards add a lot of luck into the game, making strategy development difficult.


  10. Munchkin:

    This game is D&D in the form of a card game. Players obtain powerful weapons and armor before they kick in the door and find monsters to fight. Players use their weapons to deflate the monsters and level up. and use spells on the monsters or other players to change the power on the board. The first player to reach level 10 wins the game. This is a great fantasy fighting game, but the game is often to long. Finding a way to shorten the game would move the game up on the list.
